Eric Mendez has been playing salsa since a very young age. He is a studied musician in all three percussion elements within the genre of salsa. Eric is also a studied trap set player and excels in performing various styles of music.
Eric has been a member of Orquesta Borinquen since he was 16 years old. He started when he was 7 years old at the Mission Cultural Center in San Francisco, studying with veteran percussionist Eric Rangel.
He started performing in school bands and graduated from the San Francisco School of the Arts. He later moved to New York to further his education in a New School. After moving back to the bay area he has been performing professionally again with Orquesta Borinquen.
Eric has had the opportunity to tour with Salvador Santana Band and opened up for Carlos Santana some years back. Eric Mendez is a force to be reckoned with as a percussionist and still one of the youngest members of OB.
