TIMBALES, CONGAS

AARON ROUTTENBERG

Aaron Routenberg

Born of Mexican and Puerto Rican descent, Aaron Jimenez-Routtenberg is a talented young drummer hailing from Los Angeles.  Aaron first became interested with the conga drums at the age of 9 as his grandfather would play along with records in their garage.  For 3 years, his grandpa showed him the basics on congas and bongos.

At the age of 12 he began studying with some of the most respected percussionists in the world including David Romero (Earth Wind & Fire/Wayne Newton), Fausto Cuevas (Britney Spears/Queen Latifah), and Tiki Pasillas (Marc Anthony), all of which have taken him under their wings.

Since then, Aaron has since re-located to Northern CA.  In his 17 year career, he has performed with top artists such as Grammy Award winning Spanish Harlem Orquestra, Frankie Vasquez, Lalo Guerrero, Tito Nieves, Tito Rojas, Jerry Rivera, Tony Vega, Willy Torres, El Gran Combo, Adalberto Santiago, and Johnny Pacheco among many others.

Aaron has served as the Timbalero and one of Orquesta Borinquen's vocalists since 2009.  You can also catch him performing with his salsa band Orquesta Taino.
